Just in time for the release of the Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge film on January 12, 2013, a new official Hunter x Hunter has been released for Android.
The app has a bunch of different features, but naturally the most interesting is the Aura (Nen) Determination Test that uses the water divination method seen in the manga and anime.
Water divination is the method used in Hunter x Hunter to determine the type of aura a character possesses. First, you fill a cup with water, then float a leaf on the water and see what change the person effects on the water in the cup. Depending on how the water or leaf reacts, the person is labeled as having one of six types of aura.
Naturally, the next step is to test the auras of a couple of unsuspecting TABROID editors...
The in-app aura testing involves two steps: take a picture of yourself with the camera, then touch the glass that appears on the screen until the test completes.
As a special treat, I've included the pictures we used for the test along with the test results. Have a look below:
Our auras totally matched our personalities! Kind of! Sometimes! Well, not so much actually, but that's what you have to expect with these fortune teller-style apps. Regardless, apps fun to bring out parties and casual get-togethers as icebreakers.
The app also features a "unique" alarm clock feature. During the time when the alarm starts ringing until you turn the alarm off, your phone's screen fills up with big, ugly spiders, which is a pretty creepy way to start your morning.
The app also features an anti-peeping feature that overlays an image on your screen to prevent wandering eyes from seeing what you're doing. All these different features really make this app worth the price. If you're a Hunter x Hunter fan, this is a must-download.
