Everything is in 3D, these days, and now a 3D feature comes to Facebook as well.
LG recently released the Facebook app LG 3D Studio which enables you to surf the Facebook Newsfeed in 3D.
As seen above, normally your Facebook Newsfeed posts are shown in 2D by the order of being posted.
But this Facebook app transforms flat posts into 3D-blocks, and the width and height of each block vary depending on its volume of 'likes' and 'comments'. With this 3D feature, it's so easy to find the popular posts at a glance.
Below is the official introduction video of LG 3D studio.
This service is available to anybody who has a Facebook account.
No registration is needed for use. The best experience will be obtained by viewing on 3D TV with glasses. However, since I have none of them, I tried the 2D viewing mode.
I entered into the screen above, which is completely different from the FB's traditional Newsfeed. I felt as if I had become a bird. I can see all posts from the above, birds-eye view!
I checked the tallest block, which looks like a building.
The original news is placed on the top of the building.
And a comment consists of one floor, so that the news with many comments becomes a tall block.
There used to be other Facebook service which shows popular posts as being bigger, however it was not in 3D.
This app makes users to view posts easy and intuitively on a 3D screen, and the UI looks really cool. It almost makes you feel as if you were flying over a skyscraper city of FB posts.
However it requires a certain amount of CPU power. Also, there are some small bugs such as not showing user's icon who commented on posts. Those are a bit unfortunate.
Overall, this looks totally cool as the first-ever 3D feature in Facebook Newsfeed. Check it out!
