It's a basic rule with RPG gamers: the strongest, scariest, most powerful in-game characters are played by the palest, scrawniest (or fattest) real-life players. For you gamers that want your real-life body to more closely resemble your in-game character, let me introduce you to Training Quest.
Training Quest is an RPG game where you increase your in-game character's strength and abilities by exercising in real-life. Neat idea, eh?
As you can see from the screen caps, this game bears a striking resemblance to the Dragon Quest series. The style may be a bit suspicious, but the main draw of this game is its blend of exercising and gaming, so we'll chalk this up as an homage rather than a rip-off.
The background art and stuff is really well done, meaning even die-hard RPG fans should be pleased with the presentation.
Will you train with me?
Here's the King, who will help you on your path of getting in shape through his Legendary Training regimen.
In order to defeat enemies in the game, you're going to need to participate in this Training. This involves four different exercises (walking, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups), each of which increases specific parameters and gets you cash.
Don't just sit there! You're the one doing the training! Move that body!
Each training exercises requires that you use your smartphone's motion sensors and screen to record how much exercise you've done. Of course it's really easy to cheat, but there's also a daily limit on the amount you can increase your parameters and how much money you can get. So don't cheat, do these exercises everyday, and you'll find both your character's body and your real body will start looking good in no time!
Would you like to buy equipment?
You can buy weapons and armor with the money you get from exercising. The shop owners again are nicely illustrated and offer plenty of items to give you an advantage over your enemies. The King also sometimes drops hints about which items are good to buy.
An enemy has appeared!
After you've leveled up and equipped yourself, you can head into the witch's castle and square off against some baddies. Battles are your standard command-driven fights. Show these bad guys the results of your training!
You'll lose pretty quickly if you aren't properly trained, so be sure to do your exercises every day. By the time you are strong enough to take out the final boss, your body should be looking pretty chiseled!
