Nikkan Kuma Nurie is coloring book-type app with so much content you'll never run out. Why? Because you get a new picture to color every single day! (except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
Also, because you don't need cell phone service to color pics you've already loaded, this app is perfect for killing time when you're riding the subway or flying in a plane.
The pictures that are sent out are kind of like single-panel comics.
The main "bearacter" (pun intended) bears (another pun?!) a slight resemblance to another well-known bearacter (that's the same one again, so it's less painful) that likes to relax but shall remain unnamed.
The pictures come in many different styles that are sure to satisfy the tastes of most people. The bear is the main character of the comic, and he's supported by a series of subcharacters. The frog guy is kind of revolting, but in a way that gives the comic a nice personality.
When you turn the comic into coloring mode, the actual picture you color on is a bit simpler than the original. With this picture, for example, I'm a bit sad that the cat disappears in coloring mode.
The coloring part of the app is really simple, which means you've got lots of freedom to make your own backgrounds and add on speech bubbles. Even with the same picture, you can color it in many different ways, meaning each picture can be enjoyed multiple times.
One bad point is that there's no zoom feature. There are a lot of pen colors and shapes, but it's hard to draw small things because you can't zoom in. Even with the thinnest tip pen, the cursor would jump around making it hard to draw precisely. It looks like it takes a lot of practice to draw as well as the original comic illustrations.
