The browser version of the much-talked-about free-Internet call app LINE is now available for PCs and smart tablets.
LINE has been enjoying over twenty million downloads ever sine its release. Unfortunately, this browser version doesn't cover the app's free Internet call function yet.
In order to install LINE browser version, you have to register your email address through the app version of LINE. Since you don't have to do it to use the app on the phone, some of you might have forgotten to register your email address. So make sure you have. The images above show how to get to the registration page.
Here's how it looks on the screen. Your friend list is imported from the app version. To see how it works, I tried chatting between my smartphone and my PC through LINE. The left image is on PC, the middle on smartphone. When the account on my smartphone gets a message in the chat, my phone also received a text message as a notice.
While the chat works pretty nicely and it is convenient sometimes, free Internet calls are what people love about LINE for smartphones for sure. Seeing as SKYPE has chat and free Internet calls, I guess what LINE needs now to compete with SKYPE is free Internet calls on PCs and tablets. So let's hope their next update will allow us that.
