Did you know that elementary school kids in Japan is only walks 11382 steps a day on average? That is 30% less than what is used to be in 1980's. This comes as no surprise because everything from transportation to electronic devices has become so convenient nowadays.
Now, how many steps do adults walk in a day? Check that out for yourself with Walk Work, a free pedometer app for Android.
As soon as you start the app, steps, walking distance, and burned calories are measured. So, all you need to do is just walk. It's so simple there is nothing else to explain.
This app is synchronized with GPS and Maps, so you can also review how you walked at the end of the day.
Once you get used to this app, there are three useful functions you should know. These are "History", "Twitter", and "Setting" which can be accessed via the main menu.
You can export your walking history as a file format that can be opened in your PC. It would be useful to record your daily activity.
Walking steps, distance, and burned calories can be tweeted. The screenshot below shows a gap between tweeted number of steps and actual steps, but that is because I was tweeting while I was walking. While you are using another app, Walk Work still continues to count your steps.
The "Setting" is actually the most important. I'm not sure of the detailed mechanics of how this app actually counts steps, but is more accurate if you measure and set up your initial stride before use. If you doubt the result of the numbers, make sure to check this setting.
Walking is the basic measure for maintaining and improving your health. For those who are not good at sports or tend to give up on exercising, this app would be perfect.
