One of the concerns that everyone has about smartphones is the battery. That's why there are tons of apps that notifies the battery status of your phone in many different ways. BaBar is one of the more practical battery status apps I've ever seen.
Some battery status apps take up one spot on the top bar of the screen. More and more apps use this area these days, making it hard to keep spots available for the apps you really need.
Well, BaBar doesn't do that. It just shows a thin bar above the top bar or at the bottom of the screen. You can figure out how much battery is left just by the color and length of the bar.
You can change some settings like the position of the bar, on/off of bettery percentage, and transparency. The color of the bar turns pink when you are charging your phone, blue when the battery is above 80%, green when 60% to 80%, yellow when 40% to 60%, orange when 20% to 40%, and red when 0% to 20%.
It's a very simple app that never gets in your way.
I have BaBar on all my Android devices. It worked on my Honeycomb tablet (Android 3.2. Image above), a tablet that I installed Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and even my mysterious made-in-China tablet. On Motorola Photon (ISW11M), however, the battery status bar doesn't decrease smoothly, it gets shortened by 5%.
They have an upgraded version called Oni BaBar (149 yen) which allows users to customize the color and the thickness of the bar. I actually find it convenient because phones with small screens like HTC Aria doesn't look good with a thick bar. You can make it as thin as one pixel with Oni BaBar. Another idea is to make the bar thicker and more transparent. The following images are those of Oni Babaa.
If you want something simple to just tell you your battery status, BaBar will do a perfect job.
