Natsume's Book of Friends is a Japanese manga series, which has been adapted into anime since 2008. As well as the story about spirits, its depiction of atmospheric sceneries is acquiring a good reputation.
The spinoff widget app, Natsume Yujincho Nyanko-Sensei Widget (夏目友人帳 ニャンコ先生ウィジェット) literally features Nyanko-Sensei, one of the main characters in this manga. You can get special wallpapers and icons by communicating with him. For now, the app is available only for the Android OS.
Nyanko-Sensei is a chubby "Lucky Cat" (Maneki Neko), who loves sake and fried shrimp. As a mascot character, he is popular among the fans of Natsume's Book of Friends.
There are mainly three ways to communicate with Nyanko-Sensei in this app. The easiest way is talking to him. He responds in various ways, and the "Friend Point" goes up after the conversation.
If you want to get friendly with him more, feed him with his favorite foods like fried shrimps. You can give him only one food per hour, but it will make the "Friend Point" go up significantly.
The app contains a mini game called "Kageate! Ayakashi Quiz", in which you identify the characters of Natsume's Book of Friends by watching only their silhouettes. You can play it once every hour, if you answer correctly, the "Friend Point" increases.
Increasing the "Friend Point" unlocks items, such as foods for Nyanko-sensei and wallpapers and widget icons for the home screen.
