Running is tough. It's tough mentally because staying motivated is not easy. Have you ever wished you had a coach or a trainer to keep you in line? Here's good news for you. Adidas miCoach does that for you on your phone.

MiCoach helps create your training plan, keeps track of your pace of running and the distance, and even gives you advice during your training. Pretty much everything you need is in this app.

There are many people who want to start running but are clueless about where to begin. You don't want to make a running schedule that is too hard, but running without a plan or a goal doesn't motivate you enough either.

Here's how miCoach does that for you. You go to the miCoach's website where you can set your goal for running. For example, to complete a full marathon in three months. Then miCoach will create an appropriate training schedule for you. The website is connected to miCoach on your phone, so now you are ready to start training.

While you're running, miCoach uses GPS to keep track of the pace and the distance and notifies you by showing it on the screen and speaking it. You don't have to think whether you need to pick up your pace or slow down, or how much longer you need to run. You can just concentrate on running, leaving the rest up to miCoach. If you have some music on your phone, you can listen to it while running. However, I personally don't think it's a good idea since miCoach also needs to be running all the time. You might want to use your portable music player for music listening.

Your running history is stored on their server, and you can view it anytime. It will show you on the map the time, the pace, and the route you took so far. It's fun to look back how much you've accomplished. This helps a lot to keep you motivated.

You might get frustrated a little when it's downloading from the server because it takes a little while. The same goes with uploading. I'd say that's one of the few downsides of the app.

I've been running with miCoach for a while now. Before I knew nothing about running. It didn't cost me much to start as miCoach is free. I didn't exactly buy a new set of running clothes or anything. Just a pair of inexpensive shoes. I have to admit I'm one of those people who always start new things but end up quitting after a few days. But hey, I've come so far!

MiCoach will be your great personal coach that will guide you to accomplish your goal. You don't need any expertise on running or training.
