It became a news when a CEO of Japanese major mobile carrier posted a tweet with a picture. "This is a Christmas present", he said, and added a kaleidoscopic photo of his forehead with very little hair left.
Nobody knows whether he used this Android app, but it lets you take a photo just like his. Here's a sample that was taken from my toy robot's head.
As the name suggests, Kaleido Camera lets you convert your photo into a kaleidoscopic image.
There's nothing more to it, but a kaleidoscope has never stopped attracting us since it was created in the 1800's. You can save the image to a file in Gallery or as a wallpaper.
You can choose from multiple reflecting mirror shapes (eg: right triangle or square) and change its size, zoom, reflection rate and more. You can also preview without reflection when you're cutting a piece from a target image, as you can see in the toy robot example. If your device is equipped with it, you can use the in-camera as well. It can of course rotate your images around just like a real kaleidoscope.
We never thought of reporting this as a funny app until the previously mentioned CEO made fun of himself. It certainly serves as a very enjoyable kaleidoscope app for many different purposes.
